Description
Long-fibre kozo tissue for mending tears, reinforcing folds and infilling loss. The long bast fibre is what does the work: torn rather than cut, the feathered edge of a kozo patch distributes stress into the sheet over a wide, soft boundary instead of concentrating it at a hard line, so the repair does not become the next tear. Applied with wheat starch paste, the repair stays reversible with moisture alone, which is the requirement that rules out every pressure-sensitive tape ever marketed for the purpose. Match weight to the sheet, not to the damage: a repair heavier than its host will tear the host. Tear the patch against a wetted line rather than cutting it — a scalpel edge on a repair is visible forever under raking light.
