Description

A folder machined from solid PTFE for work where bone would burnish or mark the surface. The lower friction makes it the right tool for coated stock, pigmented papers, gilt edges and any sheet where a shine along the fold would be visible and permanent. It also releases cleanly from wet paste, which is why conservators reach for it when smoothing a repair through Japanese tissue or working an infill flat without lifting the fibre. The tool is machined rather than moulded, so the working edges are true and can be re-dressed with fine abrasive paper if they pick up a nick. PTFE is chemically inert and will not react with adhesives, solvents or the papers it touches. Slightly more flexible in the hand than bone, which is an advantage on curved work and a matter of preference on flat.
