Pressing Boards, Marine Ply — Pair

Description

Pairs of flat pressing boards to go either side of the work in the press. Marine-grade ply is used because it is dimensionally stable across humidity swings and will not cup the way solid timber does when one face is against damp work and the other is in room air — a cupped board presses a curve into everything it touches and is worse than no board at all. Faces are sanded flat and sealed, edges are eased so they cannot bruise a turn-in, and the boards are supplied in matched pairs. Between board and book you still want a blotter or a sheet of silicone release paper; the boards distribute the load, they are not a barrier. Stored flat, on edge, never leaning — a board left leaning against a wall for a month is a board with a bow in it.
