Tacking Iron, Temperature-Controlled

Description

A small temperature-controlled iron for setting heat-activated tissue, easing a lifted corner back down and drying a local repair under control. Temperature control is the specification, not a convenience: an uncontrolled iron cycles between too cool to work and hot enough to scorch, and by the time the scorch is visible it is permanent. This one holds a set point across the plate. The sole is polished and radiused at the edges so it can be worked up to a boundary without the edge cutting a line into the sheet. Supplied with a heat-resistant rest — use it, because a tacking iron laid on the bench between operations is how a scorch and a burnt bench happen. Read the temperature at the plate with a separate thermometer before trusting the dial on any first job.
