Bench Magnifier, LED Ring, Clamp Arm

Description

A glass lens on a sprung arm with an LED ring, clamped to the bench edge. Glass rather than acrylic: acrylic scratches from the first careless wipe and the scratches sit in your line of sight forever. The ring light is arranged around the lens so the illumination arrives on the same axis as the view and the work is not lit from one side — side lighting throws a shadow off every fibre and makes a tear look worse than it is, which is how repairs get over-specified. The arm is sprung so it stays where it is put through the whole operation instead of drifting down over five minutes. LED because the older fluorescent rings run hot enough to matter over a sheet you are trying to keep at a stable moisture content.
